Airline network changes & route disruptions

Emirates is launching regular international services at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) in Angola from 1 November, after TAAG Angola Airlines completes its move.

Meanwhile, significant disruptions: Emirates also reported travel interruptions affecting key airports in UAE, Denmark, Tanzania & US on 1 Nov.

In North America, the U.S. Department of Transportation cancelled 13 trans-border routes of Mexican airlines (e.g., Viva Aerobus, Aeromexico, Volaris) amid a dispute over slot access at Mexico City’s airport.

Storm impacts & traveler disruptions

In the Caribbean, Hurricane Melissa (which hit Jamaica and the northern Caribbean) caused severe disruptions: airports closed, flights cancelled, tourists stranded.

Travel inflation remains flat — but key costs rising

A recent report shows overall travel prices are roughly flat year-on-year, but airfares and dining costs are going up.

Big travel moment looming: Thanksgiving travel concerns

Because of the ongoing U.S. government shutdown (impacting agencies like the Transportation Security Administration and Federal Aviation Administration), warnings of major travel disruption during November and the Thanksgiving holiday period are coming in.

What This Means for You

  • Flexibility is key. Given route cancellations and storm risk, make sure bookings include flexible options or backup plans.

  • Highlight value now. With airfare and dining trending upward, your expertise in finding deals — or bundling value (all-inclusive resorts, off‐peak stays) — will shine.

  • Pre-holiday planning pays off. For November/December travel, encourage early booking. Also, have clients think about travel days outside the heaviest congestion.

  • Tropical getaways remain appealing but with caveats. Storm risk and disruptions mean you can pitch island or warm-weather escapes — but also lead the conversation about resilient planning (insurance, travel day buffers).

  • Stay updated on policy & route changes. International route shifts and aviation policy will affect destination options and pricing — being on top of those will give you a competitive edge in the market.
